Welding

Most calls start the same way. Something has to be joined, and it has to hold.

Tell us the material, the thickness and where the part will live. If your drawing carries weld symbols, send it as it is. If all you have is a sketch and a broken part, call and describe it.

Metal fabrication

Fabrication is cutting, fitting and welding steel into the thing on the drawing: a frame, a bracket, a guard, a platform.

Plant managers usually need a part replaced before the line stops. Contractors and builders usually need it to fit on site the first time. Say which one you are when you call.

Sheet metal fabrication

Sheet starts as coil like this, gets cut flat, then formed and joined into covers, panels, ducts and enclosures.

With sheet work the drawing matters more than anything else. Mark the gauge, the bend direction and which face shows. A flat pattern helps, but a dimensioned sketch is enough to start a conversation.

What to send for a quote

A price is only as good as the information behind it. These five things let us answer without calling you back three times.

  • The drawing. A PDF, a DXF, a photo of a sketch with dimensions. Whatever you have.
  • Material and thickness. If you are not sure, tell us what the part does and what it sits next to.
  • Quantity. One piece and fifty pieces are different jobs.
  • Finish. Bare, primed, painted, galvanized by others. Say so up front.
  • When you need it. A real date, and whether you collect or need it delivered.

A shop in a steel town

Johnstown sits where the valleys meet on the Conemaugh, and it grew up around its mills. The long roofs are still there along the river.

Our shop is at 668 Sheridan Street.
